Absalom told me of how he had started developing feelings for me but was scared to tell me because I was only sixteen. As a matter of fact, he thought it was wrong of him but his attraction grew daily. When he kissed me that night, he had wanted to know if I felt the same way and hadn’t expected my reaction to be a slap.
Realising I was upset, he began trying to reach me in order to apologize but I had blocked him. So he ran to a friend in confusion and according to him, the guy got furious at why he would let a kid humiliate him and proposed the rape idea. He said this friend kept pressurizing him until he finally gave in.
If you ask me, I’ll say all that one na story for the gods. What came next was what gave me joy.
Absalom’s story is actually sadder than mine (pardon my use of English, it’s not my father’s language). I used to think he got away with ruining my life but nahhhh…my God is faithful. Can I get a hallelujah somebody?
Just like I thought he had stopped coming home because of the guilt of what he did. Because of this, his father who hadn’t seen him in a long time decided to pay him a visit but had an accident on the way and died instantly. Nightmare number one. He said before his father embarked on that journey he had begged him to come and see him but he had been too scared and refused adamantly.
When his father died, he began living with that guilt too and then began having nightmares. Because of the nightmares, he couldn’t sleep and because he couldn’t sleep, he became sloppy at work and began losing clients. He watched everything his father worked for go down the drain. He had to sell the house his father lived in to survive. It was at this point an evangelism team met him and he surrendered his life to Christ.
They assisted him in getting the shop he was running currently. This is a clear story of ‘touch not my anointed’. That means all the time I was busy hating on God, He was busy fighting for me.
