How forcible are right words the Holyspirit tells us through the writer of proverbs. The best gift Grace gave to me were those words she spoke in my time of despair and I cannot thank her enough.

When I got to school the next day, I shared my experience with her and she prayed with me. Grace re-invited me to church for the programme she had been trying to make me attend and finally I agreed.

Later that night after putting Nathan to sleep, I told my mom I was going to church the next day for a vigil. She was shocked and suddenly tears formed in her eyes.

Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus” was all she could say. I didn’t understand why she was so emotional about it but I went to hold her and told her it was okay. The next day, I got Nathan early from my mother so I could sleep before the service. When I got to church, I sat with Grace but halfway through, she seemed almost non existent to me. I was so caught up in the presence of God. The church was unlike anything I had seen. It had most of it’s congregation as youths but these set were different. They didn’t roam aimlessly or gallivant during the service. They were attentive and it wasn’t faked.

Just before the end of the service, a young man mounted the podium and said some striking words.

I was asked to close this service but for a reason I can’t explain, the Holyspirit has asked me to do a little exercise before I close. I want you all to listen attentively. Imagine I had a butterfly in my palm” he stretched out his palm for us to see, “and I close my palm, how do you think I’ll be feeling after some time?”

Different answers filled the air but ‘uncomfortable’ was the most suitable so he used it.

I would become uncomfortable and after a while, the movement of the butterfly will make me become edgy. Whatever I respond to for that period will be because of how uneasy I feel. That’s how unforgiveness sits in our hearts, making us bitter, angry and turning us from sweet people to monsters. I pray God helps us in Jesus name”

Shouts of “amen” filled the air and we closed the service. I had to wait for Grace to finish cleaning the church before going home since she was a worker, so I allowed Nathan to sleep on the floor in front of me.

When She was done, she asked me to pack our bags while she went to wash her hands but someone intercepted her on the way and as they were talking, she pointed at me.

The guy looked back and our eyes locked.
