Grace looked into my eyes.
“But MJ, he has a lot to say to you” Before I left for my house, she showed me some verses of the bible that haunted me for weeks. This is a long read but you’ll have to forgive me. We read 3 verses from Matthew chapter 6 using the amplified version;
12: And forgive us our debt as we have forgiven our debtors (letting go of both the wrong and resentment)
14: for if you forgive others their trespasses (their reckless and willful sins) your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15: but if you don’t forgive others (nurturing your hurt and anger with the result that it interferes with your relationship with God) then your Father will not forgive your trespasses.
Did I need an interpreter?
I went home and wrestled with that scripture for two whole weeks before it broke me down. I met Grace one day after class and told her
“I really want to forgive Absalom and let go of all that happened but I can’t! I just don’t know how to forgive him”
Grace smiled and told me to go and ask the Holyspirit to help me because only God could give me the power to let Absalom go. I can’t imagine what my life would have been without Grace.
I went home that day and told the Holyspirit to help me get Absalom off my chest. I hadn’t even prayed for up to 30 minutes when I felt a literal weight lift off my chest. Oh the joy I felt afterwards!
I got Absalom’s number from Grace the next day and put a call across. He picked on the second ring.
“Good afternoon” that accented voice came to my ears. I sighed.
“Good afternoon, my name is Mary-Jane” The line went silent for almost two minutes, I had to ask if he was still on the phone.
“Mary-Jay, I don’t know what to say right now. Please can I see you?”
That was how Absalom and I met. Again.
We couldn’t speak to each other for the first few minutes and that was okay with me because I just wanted to sip on the drink he got me and let him do all the talking. He said all the remorseful things he could think of, apologizing, but that was not what I wanted to hear.
“why?” I blurted out when he fell silent.
“why?” He asked back, confused.
“why did you do it?”
